Proficiency and Interlaboratory Comparison Testing Scheme

The 2017 Proficiency and Interlaboratory Comparison Testing Scheme (PICTS) run by Geolabs Limited is now underway and all 52 participating laboratories have received their material for the testing that they will be performing.

There are 24 different soils tests within the Scheme from classification and compaction related tests to oedometer consolidation and shear strength tests. Also included are some BS1377 Part 3 chemical tests.

Participating laboratories have to submit their results by the end of August when the submitted data will be analysed and then a report will be issued to the laboratories which includes tabulated data, graphical content and a factual report on the information provided.

The Scheme has been run every other year since 2005 and provides a mechanism for a laboratory to demonstrate the performance and technical competence of their laboratory to their staff, their clients and their accreditation body.
